What is the HVAC Logic Board?
The HVAC Logic Board, also known as the control board or main control board, is the central electronic component in modern HVAC systems. It acts as the system’s “brain,” managing and coordinating the operation of various components such as the compressor, fan motors, sensors, and safety devices.
Functions of the HVAC Logic Board
- Control and Coordination: Sends signals to start or stop components based on inputs from sensors and the thermostat.
- Monitoring: Continuously checks system status, including temperature, pressure, and airflow.
- Safety Management: Detects faults like overheating, refrigerant leaks, or electrical issues, and can shut down the system or activate safety features.
- Diagnostics: Stores error codes to help technicians diagnose issues.
